Donate to Arena Renovation Project
About the Project: The riding arena at Campbell Valley Regional Park was originally built in the early 90’s to serve as a place for the equine community to ride in at no cost. The hog fuel footing was last replaced in 2016. However, due to the nature of hog fuel, the age of the arena, and our wet weather, the footing has slowly worn down and has now reached the point of being unsafe to ride in and is no longer usable. The arena is currently closed.
CVES is fundraising to replace the hog fuel footing with an all-weather sand footing that will be more suitable for wet weather and can be open to riders for a greater part of the year.
This project has a projected cost of over $300,000, and we feel this is an important investment in our equestrian community.
Benefits to the Community: This riding arena is heavily used by over 1,000 horse riders each year! Losing the use of the arena will effect many horse enthusiasts in Langley and across the rest of BC. The arena is currently used by CVES to host 12 days of competition each summer, which raise the funds needed to keep maintaining the equestrian facilities at the Park.
The upgrade to sand footing will open possibilities to hold a greater number and variety of events in the arena, including jumping! Anyone can rent the arena at a reasonable day rate through Metro Vancouver Regional Parks, so other groups will be able to organize shows, clinics, or schooling days here.
Project Status: As of July 2025, almost all the hog fuel has been removed from the arena. Before we can start the next steps of the project, we need to raise more funds.
