You need 4 memberships to enter a recognized Horse Trials. The initials in brackets match the correct spot to put your membership numbers on the Eventing entry form.
- Equestrian Canada Sport Licence (EC-SL/CE)– Bronze (PreTraining and lower); Silver (Training); Gold (Prelim)
- Eventing Affiliation/Canadian Eventing (CE) – This comes as an add-on to your EC-SL. It is now called Eventing Affiliation but the name hasn’t been changed everywhere yet so still sometimes says CE or Canadian Eventing. If you have this it will appear as a line on your EC card under the Sport Licence level. It is not a separate membership number. NOTE: This is not when you select Interest Category in Step 2 of your Sport Licence purchase. This is the screen after you select your SL level and costs $25 for a Sr.
If you need to get after you have already purchased your EC Sport Licence, you can log-in to your EC account and click Update and then Eventing Affiliation to add it on.
- Horse Council BC (Prov #)– Riders and owners of horses must have current HCBC membership
- Horse Trials BC (PHTA #)– This is purchased as an add-on to your Horse Council BC. It is not a separate card or number. It shows up as an additional line on your HCBC card.
If you already have your HCBC membership, to add HTBC, log in and select “Add Another Membership Organization to Existing Horse Council BC Membership” and follow the prompts. Ignore the screen that says Optional Purchases and the next screen will let you pay for your HTBC membership.

When you purchase these memberships online, they show up right away and the entry secretaries can see that you have them.
