THE FIELD IS NOW MOWED - Some XC Jumps
Opened
The XC field is now mowed and that there are 5 pre entry jumps open for schooling in the main field. Also, the new sand dressage arena now
has the fence and gates completed and is awaiting footing before it is
available for use. It is intended to be used during the annual
horse trials and will house a 20/40 dressage arena with room to spare to
ride around the outside. A huge "Thank-you" to Daryl
Ramsay and Russell Petrie for their hours of work in making that a
reality. Click here and
here to see photos of the beautiful new ring and the guys hard at work
building it. |

TREC CLINIC
CVES held it’s first TREC clinic which was well attended with a great bunch of people. Margaret Evans did a wonderful job of explaining TREC to us all. We started off with a short trail ride through the park to help teach us how to pace our horses. Then we practiced riding the corridor of paces, let me tell you it is a lot harder than you think to ride in a straight line for 75 m at a slow canter and then a fast walk! Afterwards we all were able to practice a few of the obstacles that one might encounter at a TREC competition. We practiced going through gates, jumping small obstacles, riding through serpentines, backing, leading and ground tying. Everyone seemed to have a great time and all are looking forward to our August clinic/competition. Take a look at the fun! More photos soon in Photo Gallery. Posted July 04, 2009 |

RIDING RING NOW OPEN
Please continue to stay off the cross country field until it has a chance to dry out. The new cross country track was seeded last fall and the grass needs a chance to grow. The mowing equipment runs into problems when the ground is dug up due to riding while the ground is wet. Thanks for your help! Posted April115, 2009 |

Dressage Series Competitor
Thank You Note
Dear Shannon and Shirley,
I wanted to tell you how much I
appreciate your CVES Dressage Award for the season.
The CVES Schooling Shows have been
invaluable in helping Verono and I attain our goal this year winning
three Awards from the USDF including the All breeds Award for the Pure
Spanish Horse. The Schooling Shows gave us great opportunities to practice
and get Judges feedback in order to improve our scores.
The sheet from Bates Tack Shop was an
unexpected surprise (I love it) and I really appreciate all of your
efforts in this regard.
Thank you for what you do.
Winona (Noni) Hartvikson

Work on Preliminary XC Track has begun!
Daryl Ramsay and helpers are hard at work discing, rotovating, harrowing, compacting and seeding the Prelim and Training tracks in the XC field to improve the footing for the future. For your safety and for your horse's safety, please do not gallop across the plowed areas. The footing will be deep there right now. Because of the work, not all fences will be open for the XC school on Saturday, Sep 27. Posted September 26, 2008 |

CVES hosted two Jumper Day Fundraisers for Cancer, raising just over 7000 dollars for the Canadian Cancer Society's Relay for Life campaign.' 'Thank-you very much to all the prize donors, participants for making the fundraisers wildly successful, the volunteers for their hours of labour, and the CVES for helping out with the arena rental. 2007 Dressage Series
The 2007 dressage series was a soggy
enterprise this year. All shows were well attended in spite of the
rain. Horse Council of BC presented us with a wool cooler to
distribute this year and I am pleased to announce that the high percent at
our Sept show took the cooler home. Erin McRae on Alex had the high
score and won the cooler, Congratulations Erin! Thank-you to HCBC
for the beautiful prize. Next year I will look into having a series
year end reward to offer to the competitors. Also a huge thank-you
goes out to my volunteers this year. I truly appreciated the many
hours of help I received from the following people: Bonnie Hemrich,
Lori Liang, Kristy Bates, Ali Stoelers, Carol McDonald, Marilyn Gregory,
Edie Thompson, Russell Petrie, Michelle MacDonald, Nadine Koreman, Marlis
Blackmore, Shirley Bradbury, Irene and Brad Schenk and ? |

CVHT Competitor Thank You Note Just wanted to send
you a note of thanks for the good times we had over the weekend.
That Canadian hospitality was heartfelt and we so enjoyed meeting new
friends and sharing good times. The games were especially fun!
Your facility is unique and has the most wonderful trails of anywhere
we've competed. Although my
horse was a bit overfaced on the training level cross-country, I
appreciated that we were able to continue to school even when eliminated.
Its been 6 years since I was last at the site and my memory of the
lovely hillside for spectators was confirmed. Thank you so
much for your contribution of time and energy! Many thanks to the
unsung heroes in your circle who also created the well-organized show.
We look forward to hosting the games on our turf in 2008 and defending our
golden boot once more. Cheers! -Dot |
