Sadly, the Campbell Valley Horse Trials have been cancelled for 2020…

We regret to share that Campbell Valley Horse Trials, scheduled for Aug 14-16, will not run in 2020. With no expectations that the current restrictions on large gatherings will be removed in time for this large event, it seemed best to cancel now, rather than hoping against hope that somehow we would be able to proceed. We can now focus our time and energies on planning what we CAN do this summer.

We are currently considering how to safely offer our Dressage Schooling Days and this seems quite do-able with minimal changes to our usual procedures. We are also looking at offering our scheduled cross country schooling days over the summer. We will have to make some changes in the sign-up; payment and scheduling process to accommodate contactless transactions but, again, this should be fairly straight-forward. Please check our website in a few weeks for updates.

We are hoping to obtain funding for improvements to the footing in the grassy area where we have been holding the Stadium phase of the Horse Trials. This would be the perfect time for this project since it won’t be in use for a year which will allow time for the fill to settle and the grass to grow back. In future this area could potentially be used for jumper schooling days and maybe even driving competitions but it will depend on finding the funds to proceed.

We have all of the materials necessary to complete the Mountain Trail course and should be able to get that completed with small volunteer work parties in the coming months. We will have to figure out how to make that available while maintaining safe physical distancing between users.

So while we are very disappointed in not being able to offer an always exciting CV Horse Trials in 2020, we are hoping that there will still be lots to do outside at the park with our equine friends while following all public health protocols.

Please take note of the signs that Metro Vancouver Parks has posted and keep 2 m apart even in the parking area. They are working hard to be able to keep the parks open but need our help in following the rules and not gathering in groups.
